We invite you to visit the wonderful world of
Yefim Rudminsky

During his life he was known as a brilliant architect. Yet after his death the public found out something surprising about the renowned designer Yefim Rudminsky: In a period spanning five decades, he had created a great number of artworks.
Today art critics debate which of Rudminsky's legacies is greater: his contribution to the architecture or the vast amount of visual art that he created.Perhaps a better question is not which is better, but rather, how did he manage to do both so well.
Yefim Rudminsky died at the age of 57 and left behind a wealth of art - sketches, paintings and even postcards. He has gathered about 120 of such postcards, each of which is a finished artwork.
We must never speak about artists in the past tense. They either exist or they do not. Yefim Rudminsky exists. He appears before us in his works, exuding living, human warmth. People remember Rudminsky as a tireless worker, who constantly searched for perfection. He worked in different genres, styles and experimented with all possible techniques.
The idea was born to create a virtual museum of Yefim Rudminsky in order that art lovers throughout the world are able to become familiar with his many types of work.
At this site we present his extensive art heritage in the most complete form - more than 1000 paintings and graphics.

SOME COMMENTS ON YEFIM RUDMINSKY'S ARTWORK

The Ambassador of America in Ukraine Carlos Pascual wrote:
"..Every day I look at Yefim's paintings and think of the tremendous capacity he had to express human feeling. You can see the spiritual depth that accompanies the technical excellence in Rudminsky's work. He is both architect and poet, and his paintings capture that dual reality.”

The Ambassador of Japan in Ukraine Hitoshi Honda, said:
"...Yefim Rudminsky was a genius ".

The Ambassador of Israel in Ukraine Anna Azari at the opening of the exhibition in the National Art museum of Ukraine wrote in a visitor's book:
"Perhaps the most charming at this exhibition is the desire to carry away the most part of the pictures and to hang up at my apt. The remarkable works executed in a minor and nevertheless optimistic (cheerful) manner”.

L.Leonidova, art critic:
"Yefim Rudminsky is an outstanding artist of the present..."

Anna Kozmina, Post Staff Writer:
"Today art critics debate which of Rudminsky's legacies is greater: his contribution to the architecture or the vast amount of visual art that he created.
Perhaps a better question is not which is better, but rather, how did he manage to do both so well."

Tanya Illina, art historian, USA:
"Y.Rudminsky's deep knowledge and understanding of art, his innate intelligence allowed him to reach the quality of art, the appreciation of which will not change with passing of time. The artist did not belong to any particular trend movement, he did not need to; he just painted, because for him it was the way of exploration and comprehension of life."

David Goldovsky, art critic:
"The Jewish themes of Rudminsky's art was a continuation of the artistic discourse started by the great painters of previous eras – Rembrandt, Chagall, Tyshler, etc. The Biblical Prophets cycle reveals emotionally gripping pictures that make visitors stop and spend a long time exploring each, staring at faces looking back across thousands of years.
Yefim Rudminsky, as many other artists, devoted a large part of his work to the victims of Babiy Yar. However, he portrayed the plight of the Jewish people not by showing them at the moment of death, but by conveying their emotional state at their realization of impending doom. Rudminsky wanted to show what a big loss it would be for mankind by killing these beautiful spiritual people."
